Specialized Hardrock Ultra Mountain Bike - Black

This photo is goofy

I'm drawing a blank on this one. Obviously, it's a Specialized Hardrock Ultra mountain bike. It's small. It's black, or some sort of dark not-quite-black color. I shot photos of it on July 19, 2012, late in the afternoon, and then I removed the "hazy sun setting over Los Angeles" yellow hues with Lightroom.

Other than that, I don't remember when or where I got this bike, or what I did with it. I probably traded it to my friend ***** for a shitty old road bike. That's what usually happens.

You may need parts like these if you're fixing up a Specialzed Hardrock Ultra.

Concoct a black and tan on my sidewalls

But I can always look at the photos, and rattle off a parts list, so I will. The Specialized Hardrock Ultra mountain bike has a rigid double-butted chromoly frame and fork with Specialized's Direct Drive seat stays. Someone upgraded the handlebars with a set of Schwinn Performance Products upright handlebars, which is probably an improvement over the Hardrock's stock bars.

Ready to climb

I'd guess that a woman originally owned this Hardrock Ultra, because it's short and it has a "women inspired" padded saddle. When she rode it, she held on to black Specialized grips, ran through the 21 gears with Shimano Acera X thumb shifters and derailleurs, transferred power from her calf muscles to the chain through a set of Shimano Acera X cranks, and did nose wheelies down the trail by feathering the Shimano Acera X brakes.

How dumb was that last paragraph?

Big blue "S"

Unfortunately, she also either wore out or popped the rear tire, because instead of a pair of matching Specialized Hardrock gumwall knobby mountain bike tires, this Hardrock Ultra has one awesome gumwall in the front, and an ugly blackwall Schwinn tire in the back. It definitely makes the bike look hardcore, but there's no substitute for gumwalls.

Mismatched tires or not, this Specialized Hardrock Ultra is a cool-looking mountain bike, and I hope someone is having fun with it now. But I really have no idea. All I have is sixteen photos. And now you can look at them too.

Someone took care of this Specialized. If you didn't take care of yours, you might need these parts.
